THE CHALLENGE

Houston’s fleet worked long hours in dusty, high-contamination environments , accelerating oil degradation. Prior to Kleenoil, the City changed engine oil once per month per vehicle — a costly and time intensive practice. This created: o High oil consumption. o Significant waste oil disposal. o Downtime and labour costs tied to frequent oil services. The city needed a sustainable, tested solution that could reduce oil-related costs while protecting fleet reliability. In 2014, the City of Houston’s Fleet Management began testing Kleenoil bypass filtration systems . A two-year trial was carried out across multiple divisions. In 2016, after successful results, Houston selected Kleenoil for fleet-wide installation on over 3,000 units . The Kleenoil Bypass Filtration System continuously filters a small amount of oil through a dense cellulose cartridge. Flow rate: 2–3 quarts/minute. Removes particles down to 1 micron (3 absolute) . Removes 99.95% of all water , keeping oil in “as new” condition. Suitable for engine oil, hydraulic oil, and transmission fluid .

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Oil Change Frequency Before Kleenoil: Oil changed once per month per vehicle. After Kleenoil: o Kleenoil filter changed quarterly (4x per year) . o Oil changed once per year . Cost Savings Massive reduction in oil purchases, disposal, and labour costs. Fewer breakdowns and failures due to reduced contamination.
