KLEENOIL Engine Applications
THE PROBLEM: OIL DEGRADATION, WEAR AND MOISTURE
Conventional oil filtration and service schedules were not enough to prevent internal wear and contamination:
Limitations of Standard Filters Regular engine filters only capture particles 25–40 microns in size Critical engine tolerances are as small as 3 microns Contaminants under 10 microns freely circulate and cause internal abrasion
THE KLEENOIL SOLUTION: CONTINUOUS BYPASS FILTRATION A Light Duty Kleenoil Bypass Filtration Unit (for up to 15L sump capacity) was selected for the Defender. Rather than replacing the factory filter, this system works in parallel — continuously diverting a small flow of oil through a dense cellulose cartridge to clean it beyond standard capability. Key Functional Advantages 1. Sub-Micron Filtration Reduces contaminants to below 1 micron, compared to 25–40 microns in standard filters. 2. Moisture Removal Absorbs the water normally responsible for sludge, acidity and oil degradation. Moisture and Oil Breakdown Thermal cycling and combustion by-products allow water to enter the oil system, resulting in: Sludge formation Acidic conditions Additive depletion Accelerated breakdown of engine oil Frequent, Costly Oil Changes Servicing every 6,000 miles resulted in: High lubricant use Repeat filter changes Downtime and labour costs Unnecessary waste oil disposal Goal: To protect the engine by keeping oil “as new” for longer, while reducing service frequency and preventing microscopic wear.
