Portable Filtration MS Range
CASE STUDY JMT PLANT – PROVING THE VALUE OF OIL CLEANSING – IS NEW OIL CLEAN ENOUGH ?
BACKGROUND
At JMT Plant , a test cleanse was carried out to assess oil condition and demonstrate the effectiveness of Kleenoil bypass filtration. Findings showed that even “new oil” supplied to site was far from clean : Water content at 2442 ppm (over 12x higher than acceptable new oil). High particle counts (>27,000 at 4 µm). TAN (Total Acid Number) at 1.21 , suggesting oxidation or degradation. Despite being marketed as base oil, results suggested improper storage or contamination. This case reinforced that oil condition cannot be assumed — verification and fine filtration are essential .
THE CHALLENGE
“New oil” was not new in condition – high water and particle load. Used oil before Kleenoil still showed:
1. 2.
o Water = 764 ppm. o PQ index = 6 (ferrous wear debris). o Copper, iron, and lead contamination. o 16,385 particles at 4 µm. Without intervention, this condition would accelerate wear, shorten oil life, and risk premature component failures. 3.
