CASE STUDY KLEENOIL OIL RECLAMATION AT TRIVENI EFW BELFAST

BACKGROUND

Triveni installed 5 MW and 10 MW turbines at their energy-from-waste (EFW) site in Belfast. Following hydraulic system flushing, the turbines required oil reclamation to NAS 6 cleanliness standards before reliable operation could begin. Contaminated turbine oil can lead to: Premature wear of bearings and hydraulic components. System inefficiency and overheating.

Unexpected downtime and higher maintenance costs. Increased oil disposal and replacement requirements.

To address these risks, Triveni engaged Kleenoil to reclaim the oil on both turbines over a 4-day period .

THE CHALLENGE

Initial contamination levels exceeded acceptable limits (22/20/14 ISO codes). Agitation of tanks released significant contamination back into circulation (up to 23/22/18).

Project required achieving NAS 6 or better within a tight timeframe. Large oil volumes in two turbine systems (5 MW and 10 MW) . Need to minimize disruption and avoid unnecessary oil disposal.
