3.0 Results

On returning all oil samples were set for analysis. The full analysis for 5MW, 10MW and new oil can be found in appendix C, D and E respectively.

3.1 5MW Turbine

The results from the 5MW turbine are shown in the table below. The chronology is from right to left i.e. 1 st sample is on the left and last sample, taken from the tank, is on the right.

From the above, the following can be said: -

 The Kleenoil unit polished the oil from 22/20/14 down to 19/17/14 for the first 12 hours.  Following the stirring of the tank a significant amount of contamination was introduced to the system, resulting in the result increasing to 23/22/18.  Following a further 12 hours of operation the final sample from the tanks gave a result of 19/17/13, which is a NAS 5.  While on site the particle counter was fitted to the rig. This gave a reading of NAS 5 also.

Conclusions

 Kleenoil polished the oil to NAS 5, which exceeds the NAS 6 requirement.
